Introduction
Yan holds profound significance within the realm of traditional Chinese art, intertwining seamlessly with calligraphy, painting, and writing. It has evolved into a symbol of literati culture, embodying a hallmark of artistic expression. Hefei, renowned for its premium inkstone raw materials, boasts a refined expertise in processing and production techniques. Leveraging Yan as a foundational design concept, this project diverges from conventional approaches by abstracting the inkstone's profile—placing emphasis on its outline and hierarchical structure. The central idea revolves around translating the logic, patterns, and forms inherent in the profile into an architectural language encompassing plans, sections, elevations, and functionality. The intriguing challenge lies in harmonizing and adjusting function with form to create a cohesive and innovative architectural expression.

Site Condition
Nestled within a cultural park, the art gallery shares its space with two prominent structures: the Anhui Provincial Museum and the geological museum, both facing the art museum. The Provincial Museum, with its conventional design, has established a definitive standard and a substantial ambiance that permeates the entire park. Within this context, the challenge extends beyond mere alignment with the site's overarching aesthetic; it involves pushing the boundaries of conventional form and structure.

In this section, I am delving into the interplay between contrasting concepts: normal and abnormal, form and function. Moving outward from the atrium, the space undergoes a gradual transformation, leaning towards a more conventional aesthetic with a reduction in formal elements.
